How did you become designer ?

After spending in a fashion design company in my early 20s, I got access to fashion pattern design as well as graphic design. As my actual major was Animation Design in the university, I had no idea how the design industry works. Not until one day did I suddenly realize that illustrations or pattern designs can be fully taken into practice through distinct domains, for instance, packaging, posters, fashion, skateboarding, even automotive design. I attribute this to my passion on drawing in my childhood. Apart from that, I do have a strong sense of achievement when I express myself via drawing sometimes.

How would you define your vision of design, your style ?

I always enjoy designing for all sorts of different industries, plus the fact that I think it’s vital to use Chinese elements by smartly combining the western design approaches, due to my Chinese nationality. I strongly suggest every designer or artist create artwork by using more elements from his own country if possible.

For the future, what are your professional projects ?

At the moment I’m establishing the design studio in my name by involving a large number of different industries, like textile (sofas), lightning (lamps), toys, of course auto industry.

What do you like the most in your job ?

Working with people in various industries brings me so much fun, that’s where the richness is. I had never collaborated with any brands before in F&B industry, until recently I got an opportunity working with Hot Stick (闻签), I guess it was mainly driven by my early experience working on some food illustrations. I could feel how enthusiastic I was when I started working with them at the beginning. It is always the curiosity and the fear that make me stand up for my belief and individuality in some way, and I do love the process.
